Our elegant guest room was well-appointed with a super-pillow plush Simmons king mattress and graced with a cozy goose-down duvet comforter, topped with chamber pillows and a North African woolen throw. Free, wireless high-speed internet was available around the clock and the 32-inch LCD flat panel television provided entertainment and news with just a click of the remote. The handy, petite fridge under the ornate desk allowed us to keep a few snacks and beverages chilled, while the remote controlled thermostat and air conditioner provided us the option to direct the vanes on the elevated unit to suit our taste in climate-control. A Syrian chest accommodated our clothing and served as an accessible resting place for our complimentary welcome basket of fruit and a delightful bottle of merlot. The gigantic, 30 square-foot walk-in
Centurion Rain Shower stall in our bathroom featured two shower heads
that yielded a bountiful cascade of soothing refreshment to begin and
end each day. Needless to say, our showers were lengthy and
languorous. Hand-crafted lemon-mint soap and salon-quality personal
care products nourished and cleansed our hair and skin. A large basket
sat nearby, overflowing with luxurious Turkish towels, invited us to
wrap ourselves in their soothing warmth. Plush terry cloth robes were
donned after each shower experience, enhancing and lengthening our
unhurried moments of relaxation. The large dressing mirror added
elegance to our room’s comfort and style. Tastefully framed artistic
prints adorned the tan-colored walls, providing interest and flair.
Here we were in the midst of Andalusian luxury, regaled with deep colors
woven through soft fabrics adorning furnishings of exquisite taste and
beauty.
Outside our room the hotel displayed carefully maintained gardens and tranquil courtyards, beckoning guests outdoors to feel the soothing afternoon and evening breezes of Sedona’s high desert climate. We traipsed over to the third floor observation terrace that overlooks the azure lap pool and jetted spa to find a cozy arrangement of outdoor furnishings gathered near an outdoor fireplace. Here stargazers come to enjoy moments of quiet serenity at the end of the day in one of the world’s most enchanting and romantic places. We arrived at this romantic getaway
a bit earlier than our suggested arrival time, but were greeted
enthusiastically by the staff at the front desk and told our room was
immediately available. We entered the third-floor suite with vaulted
ceilings and felt the rush of expectation and discovery as we stepped
inside. As it turned out, in the next two days both room and view would
rival each other for our highest praise. Outside our room’s sliding
glass doors and just beyond the balcony lay a majestic trinity of some
of Sedona’s famous red rock landmarks: Thunder Mountain, The Chimney and
Coffee Pot. Here, at the foot of these imposing monuments we marveled
silently, transfixed by the ever-shifting shades, colors, moods and
textures of the sandstone landscape. The magic and the wonder of Sedona
are found in experiencing the vitality of its topography and our room at
the Rouge invited the subtle enchantment of the outdoors inside.
